This statement was made 1999 in the European Commissions survey on implementation of 112 as general context: |

"Access to the emergency call number 112, and more generally to other emergency phone services, are important issues for all European citizens. The 112 emergency number is a prime example of how EU telecom regulation impacts directly on the indivdual citizen. It is important that EU citizens are aware of, and have confidence in, the service offered when calling 112. This implies that 112 service is both consistent and predictible throughout the Community. Recent discussions in the Europen Parliament have highlighted specific concerns about the implementation of 112 and the fact that it remains relatively unknown to the general public" |
